DEADLINE EXTENSION: Due to the recent walkout, we are extending the voting deadline to Friday, May 11th. We will announce the winner on Facebook Live the following week – more info to follow.
Please send us one vote per classroom. Each classroom should have its own individual Redbud experience, resulting in one winner per classroom. If you have 12 classrooms participating, you will send us 12 votes, most likely distributed among several titles. The Redbud Award will be presented to the author of the book that was the favorite in the most individual Oklahoma classrooms. Note: If you send us popular votes, or results that reflect a school-wide vote between two books, we will adapt your votes the best we can – we are just thrilled that your school participated!
SPEED-UP IDEAS: If you don’t think you can finish the Redbud program in time, here are some ideas:
If you’ve been doing the Redbud program bracket-style, consider switching to a rating system to finish up. Have students rate books with 1-5 stars. Average the ratings for each class, then do one final-four round of voting in each class to finish up.
If you’ve been reading the books two-at-a-time, see if you can read three and eliminate two – or read four and eliminate three.
Ask your teachers if they can help you finish – perhaps they can read books during class, or indoor recess.
VOTE UPDATE – 04/26 – We have received votes from 30 schools representing 6700 Redbud participants! It’s fun to see which books are popular with Oklahoma students – some results are even surprising! While there is a clear top three right now, several aren’t too far behind! We anticipate an exciting finish! Here is a file with the two voting forms – pick the one that works best for you.
